What happens to a contractor logo on a round valve tag?
A mechanical contractor wants its logo on every one of the Pipe & Valve Identification Tags for a process water system. The tags are small discs. Each already carries a valve ID such as V-014, the service, the location and a drawing reference. Placed at actual size, the logo would be narrower than a fingertip, and its lettering would fill in. We show two options on the layout. One keeps the logo and shrinks the valve ID. The other replaces the logo with the contractor's initials in plain text. The contractor picks the second, because the person closing a valve needs the ID, not the brand.

How is artwork checked for a tag?

Send vector artwork if it exists
Ask your marketing contact or the panel shop's drafter for the logo as a drawing file. A mark copied out of a PDF title block is a last resort and usually needs redrawing.

Give the plate size first
Tell us the finished dimensions and how much of the face the legend needs. The space left over is what the logo gets, and that figure decides whether it is worth including.

Approve at one-to-one scale
We send the artwork at real size, not enlarged. Print it and hold it at arm's length. If you cannot read it there, an operator will not read it on the valve.

Can you add arrows, earth symbols or pictograms to a tag?
We can engrave symbols you supply and approve. Send each one as artwork with the specification it comes from, and have your responsible person confirm it is the right symbol for the location. Panel Tag Co reproduces the graphic. Choosing which symbol a plate requires is not something a layout service can decide.
Does an equipment maker's logo belong on a replacement nameplate?
Only with that manufacturer's permission, and only on a plate that supplements the original. A custom plate should not pass for the maker's own data plate. If the original plate is damaged, record its details from your documents and label the new plate as an owner's identification plate.
Is tag artwork cleanup a separate charge?
A clean file dropped into a layout is ordinary work. Redrawing a logo from a scan, or building a symbol from a photograph of an old plate, takes drafting time and is quoted as its own line. You see the scope and agree to it before the redraw starts.
